Lough Gur
Lough Gur is a lake in County Limerick, and has been a site of human habitation for over 6,000 years. With multiple megalithic remains, including the largest stone circle in Ireland, crannogs, stone age houses, and ring forts, Lough Gur is one of Ireland’s most important archaeological sites.
The exhibition project for the Lough Gur visitor centre involved the creation of a series of video animations, 3D models, and video narratives. Working with Tandem Design, we created a series of touchscreen displays and video loops to explore the long and dynamic history of the lake and its inhabitants. The 3D models illustrate “hotspot” locations for reconstructed archaeological sites as well as visualised folklore retellings with accompanying audio tracks. This project involved a considerable amount of research and writing, in addition to the animation and modeling part of the design. We were happy to work with local experts to create interactive experiences of this location’s long history.
